TikTok’s Chinese Owner May Soon Launch a Special Version of CapCut for U.S. Users

According to an exclusive report by Business Insider, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, is preparing to release a new version of its popular video editing app CapCut specifically for users in the United States.

The launch of the American version of CapCut is likely part of ByteDance’s broader strategy to comply with a new U.S. law that requires the company to divest its assets in the country. This move aims to avoid potential legal restrictions that could force TikTok and its associated services to shut down in the U.S.

The legislation in question, passed during President Joe Biden’s administration, has been delayed multiple times under Donald Trump. However, if ByteDance fails to meet the U.S. government’s requirements, the company could face an outright ban of its services in the American market.

Insiders reveal that ByteDance is not only working on a special version of CapCut, but is also planning to develop a dedicated U.S. version of TikTok. It is rumored that TikTok may soon be sold to a group of American investors.

With over one billion downloads, CapCut is one of the most popular video editing apps in the history of Google Play. It currently holds the number one spot for video apps on the U.S. App Store, outperforming giants like Instagram and YouTube.
