T-Satellite Satellite Messaging Service Now Available Across the U.S.
The satellite messaging service developed by Starlink and T-Mobile, called T-Satellite, is now fully available to users across the United States. This service currently supports sending text messages and sharing location data, making it a reliable option when traditional cellular coverage is unavailable.
T-Satellite Pricing and Availability
The T-Satellite subscription costs $10 per month for now, but the price will increase to $15 per month in the future. However, T-Satellite is free for T-Mobile customers subscribed to Experience Beyond and Go5G plans.
How T-Satellite Works
When cellular networks are unavailable, your device will automatically connect to T-Satellite. As long as there are no heavy clouds or physical obstructions like trees, users can:
Send and receive text messages (including messages to 911)
Share temporary location data
T-Mobile also confirmed that image sharing is supported on most Android devices, and more device compatibility will be added soon.
Upcoming Features for T-Satellite
T-Mobile plans to add more functionality to T-Satellite, including:
Voice messaging support
Integration with optimized apps like WhatsApp, AccuWeather, and AllTrails
The service currently relies on over 650 Starlink satellites, providing coverage for the U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico.
Device Requirements for T-Satellite
To use T-Satellite, you need:
An unlocked smartphone with eSIM support and satellite connectivity
Over 60 compatible models, including:
iPhone 13 and newer
Google Pixel 9 series
Samsung Galaxy S21 and newer
Competition: Verizon and AT&T Join the Race
Verizon has partnered with Skylo to launch its own free satellite messaging service, but it currently works only on new devices like the Galaxy S25 and Pixel 9.
AT&T is collaborating with AST SpaceMobile to develop satellite messaging and voice calling capabilities, aiming to stay competitive.
Why T-Satellite Matters
T-Satellite is a game-changing solution for emergency communication, outdoor adventures, and remote areas without cellular coverage. With ongoing improvements and expanding compatibility, T-Mobile and Starlink are setting new standards in satellite connectivity.
