DeepMind has developed an AI model capable of analyzing and generating dolphin sounds. This ambitious project aims to decode animal languages and, in the future, make it possible for humans and animals to communicate. Simultaneously, similar projects are underway to study the languages of birds, elephants, and monkeys.
According to reports, the name of this project is “DolphinGemma”, and it uses artificial intelligence to recognize the sound patterns of dolphins and even generate responses resembling their language.
The idea is simple: If dolphins can talk to each other, why shouldn't we be able to understand their conversations or respond to them?
Talking to Animals with Artificial Intelligence
In other similar projects, scientists are analyzing the sounds of various animals. They record and study the voices of elephants, parrots, and monkeys. Researchers say some animals give each other names, joke, warn of dangers, or express emotions through sounds. Now, AI is helping us decode these sounds.
The applications of this technology go far beyond mere scientific curiosity. If we can better understand the language of animals, we can take better care of them, better understand their behaviors, and perhaps one day have real conversations with them, recognizing both their primary and secondary needs.
